Fund crisis dominates parliament’s first working day; AKP and MHP cool on inquiry
According to T24, the collapse of 131 investment funds belonging to seven portfolio management companies was set to dominate the first working day of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM). YENİ Parti, the DEM Party and the Yeni Yol group planned to table motions for a parliamentary inquiry. The motions are not expected to pass because the AKP and the MHP are unenthusiastic. MHP deputy chair Feti Yıldız said he saw no need for an inquiry, calling the matter “entirely judicial”. T24 says Vice-President Cevdet Yılmaz may brief the General Assembly this week under Rule 59 of the standing orders. Pro-government sources told the outlet that those named would not escape punishment.

Former AKP minister Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya and husband send part of fund-probe gains to TMSF
Cumhuriyet, citing the Demirören News Agency (DHA), reports that Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya and her husband İlyas Kaya paid the non-principal part of their investments into the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund’s (TMSF) voluntary refund account. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office allowed the payment after the banks asked for its view. Under the Capital Markets Law (No. 6362), a person must repay twice the benefit obtained, with a floor of TL 500,000, within 15 days of the Capital Markets Board’s (SPK) decision. Cumhuriyet notes that pro-government figures had earlier denied a refund had been made. Earlier the same day, YENİ Parti group deputy chair Gökhan Günaydın said the couple were trying to clear themselves by paying TL 2 billion to the Treasury, when twice the alleged gain was TL 4.4 billion.

Sixty suspects reached court, including Metropolitan Mayor Vahap Seçer, Yenişehir Mayor Abdullah Özyiğit and Mezitli Mayor Ahmet Serkan Tuncer, all CHP. The reports differ on the outcome:
50 suspects were referred with arrest requests, but only Özyiğit was reported arrested. T24’s section-page headline later says three mayors including Seçer were arrested, but I did not open that version. Seçer’s status is therefore [unclear]. Cumhuriyet says prosecutors allege Seçer approved irregular purchases in 13 files. It also reports that Tuncer is being investigated for leading an armed criminal organisation over attacks on adversaries’ premises, including YENİ Parti’s Mersin provincial office.
